You can move the blocks around using the d-pad or the left stick, but either way it felt a little stiff, making it uncomfortable to deal with at times. My biggest complaint comes from the controls. It’s ideal for long trips because it’s easy to play for two minutes or two hours, and players are unlikely to race through it too quickly.

At the time of this writing, I have only completed 67 levels, and have spent a good few hours doing so.ĭoodle Fit has “portable game” written all over it, making it a great addition to your PSP line up. Given the amount of time I spent on some levels, that is extraordinary value. There are a total of 347 levels, and 660 puzzle solutions, all for $1.99. If you’re looking for value for money, you’ll certainly find it here. As sad as it may sound, I found myself looking forward to unlocking new themes and shapes - levels with names like “Eskimo Robot” encouraged me to discover what else the game had in store. It would have been a waste to have this sort of game be too easy, and the challenge provided here kept me persevering despite my frustration. The first section of levels are simple, but this is to ensure you become familiar with the mechanics and also allows you to stock up on hints for later - trust me, you’re going to need them. The game wants you to play its way, even if it turns your brain to mush in the process.Īt first I found Doodle Fit to be laughably easy, thinking I would breeze through the game in an hour or two, but it turns out it had lured me into a false sense of security before mocking me with some fiendishly hard levels. While some levels have multiple solutions, the rules are pretty rigid and there is minimal room for creativity.

Your options are strictly limited to thinking inside the box. You’re not allowed to rotate pieces, or use any pieces not given to you, so the objective is clear and simple at all times.

You are given a blocky outline of a shape, and have to use a selection of Tetris-esque blocks to fill that shape, like a jigsaw of sorts. Like most good puzzlers, the premise is simple. After a while I had to play the game on mute. I wish the same time and effort had been put into the soundtrack - while the track that plays behind the puzzle action is cheery and quite catchy, it is also short and repeats on a loop, getting tiring very quickly. This is unnecessary to the gameplay, but it is a welcome addition given the amount of time players are likely to spend staring at the same screens over and over. The game has a simple interface but keeps things fresh with a variety of themes and appearances. Some graphical updates/improvements and a change in controls make it suitable for the PS3/PSP, but as far as I can tell, its ability to crush your mental ability with a single puzzle remains unchanged.
